Book Review: ‘The Bracelet’

Author: Ishaan Lalit
Format: Paperback
Language: English
Pages: 160

Price: Rs. 150.00
Publishers: APK Publishers

Every book has it way of appealing to the readers. With young adult books ragging the market and imagination of budding authors running free among the clouds- readers are indeed most benefited. Ishaan Lalit’s debut book- “the Bracelet” creates a sensation of mystery and thrill- with an aura that sucks in a reader through its first few gripping pages. When we are talking about fantasy, we are essentially thinking of young Potters shuffling their lives between the Muggle world and Hogwarts. Ishaan gets into more serious business, his alternate world is the venue of intense action, fatal and threatening, conjuring levels of implied danger which only the brave hearts can survive through, yes we are talking about the Alpha and Omega levels.

Abhay, the protagonist, faints, runs a raging fever of 107 and the doctors fail to ascertain reason behind all this. Their innocence is justified to the readers because he can see what the others cannot. Imagine yourself as a witness embedded somehow in the Oscar winning movie “the gladiator” and even you will feel the elephant grass fields witnessing a pursuit, an ambush and eventually become a part of a long standing episode of a battle fought between two antagonistic groups. Ishaan involves lost brothers and love ones, involves politics and its dirty tricks that oscillate its power among both the worlds. A serious take is further given to the involvement of machines that transports seekers armed with an Arrow to a world where spirits would kill them in seconds and their arch rival the ArthRakshaks  following at heels to overpower them. “The Bracelet” speaks volumes and weaves a plot noteworthy to keep the readers looking out for the peril the protagonist and his friends face at every turn.

But whom will you trust, your college buddy, who is faking the bond itself, or the family who keeps secrets from you? It not just a quest for Abhay to find reasons behind his frequent journeys to different world, it also a story that helps him realize his strength, understand his estranged brother, and stand by, what he believes to be the righteous. To reveal more will be a crime, for even, I want the readers to follow Abhay at close heels!! All I would request to the writer as a reader, is to pen down a magnificent sequel to the present intriguing tale, that triumphs just like Michael Crichton's "Timeline".

MY review as a part of Flipkart:

a book meant for teens on the high

Thought of grabbing a book and browsing through it, just for the sake of doing so...then better not touch the bracelet! Ishaan Lalit means a world of fantasy brought under one canopy, and it is true in all sense of the term. With roots grounded deep in the cultural past, with mystery issuing through mystic lands- when a young mind weaves a tale of brotherhood, deceit and alternative world- we need to stop doing all the things that steal away our silly time, and finish off this gripping novel. Don't call it child fiction, don't call it adult complication- call it a concoction of both- and you will win the brownies and the key to solve the mystery that pours out as you flip through!

About the Author:-

Ishaan Lalit is a twenty seven year old gemmologist, pilot, and adventurer form a multi-cultural background. He is an avid traveler and observer of human behaviour. He conceived of the bracelet while he was training in his flying school in Philippines. He lives in Delhi NCR along with his family and his three dogs. This is his first book and he is currently working on his second book. His Bracelet is racy and intriguing simply because he has mentors like Arthur C. Clarke, Richard Bach, Stephen King and Dean R. Koontz- to kindle his imagination through the alleys of mystery.

Book Review: A Night's Sail

Author: Apurv Agarwal
Format: Paperback
Language: English
Pages: 64
Price: Rs. 60.00
Publishers: Sanbun Publishers

You might have said to yourself, “I am reading the same story of a man looking and running after the priced one.” But the trick of a writer lays in the presentation. And it is the look and the feel of the book you take up in your hand that makes you buy it after a couple of minutes. When the pro writers armed and backed with masterminds raid the book market, selling of their not-so-cool ideas in great bulk within a couple of weeks, the budding venture-ers are left to grapple on sand.

Who grapples on the sand, not the brave heart at least? And surely not the poet who could dare to leave the world behind and set out on a journey, a voyage for that matter- in seek of the countenance and council of the beauty who left him tongue tied. The cover creates the prelude to the story remarkably written within.

“A Night’s Sail” is a journey of a love struck heart, of a man consoling himself about the past, seeking homage of the present and craving a reason to look up to future with a smile. Less than 50 poems speak in chronology, of the trip to nowhere outside, but a giant leap inwards. Thus, if you are thinking of flipping through pages in a whim, and reading through one or two- the “wow” that comes out from your mouth- is simply dull.

I have been looking for a poet who could weave a tale connecting poems together, who could bring in the conflicts in mind, the dilemma of the soul through perfect rhymes. Essentially, “A Night’s Sail” survives the test of a reader’s patience and array of doubts gloriously.

If we are speaking about romantics, and trying to think of shrewd Romeos lurking at street corners-then “A Night’s Sail” is not for them to pick up and quote a tryst line or two. The book is meant for true romantics, who find pleasure in the smallest of things. The book appeals to scholars as well- who are trying to experiment new forms. I would rather call “A night’s Sail” the new poetic novella, a rare find in the sea of self proclaimed poets’ creative bundle.

About the Author:-

Apurv Agarwal is a budding poet, writer and an engineer of the modern times. Presently, he is an undergraduate student of Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical and Electronics) in the prestigious Birla Institute of Technology, MESRA, Ranchi. Being twenty years old, this book published by Sanbun Publishers, New Delhi, is his first in the field of poetry.

Having seen his childhood in an environment very close to Nature, his poetry reveals his emotions on the present world, when seen with the eyes of Love. His poems reflect the very basic attitude of the present young generation towards their life.
